tranny shifts smoother without dashpot
I removed the dashpot vacuum dampener in an attempt to fix unsmooth shifting. Suprisingly it worked. I hooked up the vacuum line direct to the valve on the back of the injection pump and shifting is a good amount smoother. My question is what are the implications of the removal? It's a dampener so I assume I'm just giving the tranny more vacuum? Would that result in a smoother shift?

I have a 124 that did the same thing
It shifted OK when upshifting but was very abrupt when downshifting. I tried different vacuum remedies until I unpluged the vac. amplifier, now it shifts great. Obviously I have a vac. problem somewhere but this has worked so far, about 5K miles. I hope we aren't hurting anything by doing this.
