Followup video - 7 degree Cold Start 1987 300D

OK, The video is working now, as is my car. This is how it should be. Note the concerned paper carrier at the end of the video.

It takes youtube a bit to update and make the new video available, it is working now.

I like the "everything ok?" from the person at the end.

"Of course everything's ok, I am just filming my diesel starting up in the cold with new glow plugs!!!"

You should rev it up a little when you start it. At least to 1krpm. It won't hurt it at all, and will get it to fire on all cylinders a bit faster.

Then drop it in gear and go. No need to wait for anything.

I was thinking that too, I always hold mine around 1000-1100 rpm for 20-30 seconds, it will thank you for it, smooths out the idle dramatically and you can usually just drop into gear and go. If its ultra cold I'll hold the idle there for about 60-90 seconds just to be nice to it.

When its sitting there coughing and clanking its begging you to give it some extra rpms! Not too many though 1000-1200ish is plenty.
