Leak on Injection pump

Can you guys help me with a leak on my car? It appears to be leaking from the square shaped device that is mounted on the top of the injection pump right behind all the injector lines. The leak seams to be from where the device is attached to the pump. Could this be possible - what can I do to fix it?
Thanks
Corey
BTW it is a 1982 300sd 126.120 with a 617 turbo diesel

I have the same problem with w210 1997 E300. The leak is coming from the lithe black solenoid valve maybe atteched to the fuel pump. There is one bolt holding the solenoid and I was wandering if anyone knows anything more. Are there any seals that need to be replaced.
I just bought the car over the weekend and today it would not start and I read about the drying seals.
Any help would be appreciated.

FYI there are 2 torx bolts holding the shut off valve to the IP, the one that you can't see is toward the top and front of the valve

There is a o-ring seal betwen the shutoff valve and IP on the 97. It is usually the problem.

On the 82 it sounds like you have a leak at your delivery valves. Each has an o-ring and a crush washer. Read up (use search) on torque procedures (3 steps) if you plan to do it yourself.

Blow that area off real good, de grease it if you need. Then start her up and watch for the leak. Mine was leaking from the fittings on top of the IP that the fuel supply lines attach to. It was running out from under those hold down levers. From what the local MB tech's tell me this is a very common problem, IF that is where it is leaking you will need the o-rings and copper seals that go in there. You may also need a special wrench to take those fittings out. IF that is your problem be extremly careful with the fuel lines ( not to bend them) and DO NOT OVER TORQUE THE FITTINGS. Maybe you will luck out and have an easier problem.
Hope this helps.

I have washed the area off several times now and the leak seems to be coming from the rear of the pump (closer to the firewall) and below the "square device" that has the vacuum line running to it. The fuel lines running to the injectors all seem dry as well as the "delivery valves" below them. Is there some kind of seal where the "square device" meets the IP?
Thanks
Corey

Alda

Square?
is it a metal square shape with a circle on top? If so it's the ALDA See ATTACHED photo.

As far as it leaking, it's gotta have an o ring if it's leaking. Just be careful because that is the injection pump! A 'good' mechanic fixed a leak for me on one of the delivery valves on my first diesel MB and ruined the pump. It was a rare 190d 2.5 non turbo so I ended up just getting rid of the car. VERY bad experience. Fortunately there are several of your car out there. But still be careful. It shouldn't be too hard to do yourself.

By the way the ALDA helps your car go faster. As the intake brings more air/turbo, the ALDA helps the IP deliver more fuel.

Now you know what that square does.

I thought it was the ALDA, but I didn't want to say for sure. So there is an o-ring under the alda? Is there a procedure for replacing it? I had a hard time finding it in the manual.

Thanks
Corey

I have this issue on my w210 97. I had a leak and my shop- Beach Benz removed my intake- Once in there, they advised me to change all of my clear lines, my shut off and maybe some other parts. So I assume, my o-ring in the Shutoff valve is okay. What is the torq spec for this part? Do you know of any proceedures for this part? Or should I try to snug it down? I seem to have okay acess to the 1 bolt I can see by removing the window washer resivor.
Any tips would be cool.

Bill
