removing rear windshield

I found some rust in my trunk near the trunk hinges, so I investigated further and found that there are even more serious rust spots in the bottom two corners of the rear windshield, the right side being significantly worse. I'm afraid the metal lip that the rear windshield seal sits on may be shot in that area. I have the shop manual CDs, but can't for the life of me figure out how you can remove the rear windshield without destroying the seal. Can it be done? I guess if the rear windshield is leaking, the seal is probably shot anyway. Should I just cut it to get it out and order a new seal?

The car is an '84 300D. Thanks.

Might as well. The old seal will be less flexible than a new one, so even if you did somehow manage to remove the window without cutting the seal, getting it back in, would be a bear.

Just be careful with trim removal - don't bend it.
