How much would be reasonable

I have a 1990 350SDL. I've been thinking of selling it as a parts car. What do others out there think would be reasonable price. The body is in good shape no rust one dent on passenger door ant the interior is excellent.

Add it up ,what interiors would cost to be to replace in whole ,usually front seats are at a premium, misc interior parts ,exterior ,motor trannie .Then whats good about the car.It would be wise to list alot of the good here ,you might have an interested party reading this thread.$2000 if thats a real clean car ,goes up and down from their depending on mileage wear etc.

Not only would this car be a great parts car but for someone who had the time and money to put into it, it would be a really nice running car. Right now i just don't have either one. The radiator is only 2 years old,a year ago i put in a new idler pulley and belt. I think my glow plugs are bad and maybe the starter. The battery is only a year old.

How many real miles on this car if known? If not excessive and engine is still good it does sound like something you can repair cheaply yourself. A running car is worth more than a dud usually. This said if it is good I guess I cannot have it for two thousand?:D

It has 200700 real miles on it. The engine is strong.

Why parts?

I figured selling it as a parts car would be easiet the the buyer could figure out if they wanted to put the time and money in it to get it running good.

If it's running and moves under it's own power, it's not a parts car unless it's rusted out.

It's value as a moving vehicle is significantly more than a parts car. The estimate of $2K should be the minimum value if there is no rust.

As a parts car, most folks won't pay even $1K for it, no matter what they tell you on here. When push comes to shove, nobody wants to spend $1K on old spare parts.

Thank you for the info. I'm just really tied down right now with a lot of things. When the car does run it runs well. Right now i know it needs either a new starter or glow plugs. There is only one spec of rust on it and that is on the driver side near the headlight assembly. Should i give it a go and put it in the for sale forum.?

Ya sure, come on now

I sure would. With some pictures please. Sure would like to see that car.

Definitely. But, follow Jim's advice and take a bunch of closeup photos. Don't bother trying to get the entire car in the frame. We all know what a W126 looks like. What we don't know is the condition. So, closeup photos are the ticket together with the most comprehensive description of what works, what does not work, and what has been replaced.
