Timing my 2.5 in line diesel non turbo

Hi
hoping that someone will have the information needed.
I have an 86 190 diesel, had the head off and the cam off.Now am having a hard time getting the car timed
Got the manual's directions and have followed them multiple times but I am getting contact on the second crank over.
Must be lining something up wrong...
Is there a mark for the camshaft TDC to the engine??
What am I lining up to?
Thanks
doug

There should be a mark on the cam and bearing tower. They should both line up. 0 degrees or top dead centre will be marked on the bottom pulley. There should be no engine interference with those set. Perhaps a little more detail. I for one do not have a 190d manual. Just do not force anything. Also why was the head off? And what was done to it? The more details you post the more someone will be able to help.

more info on the 190D 2.5

I had a sticking valve and did the valve job, replaced the injection pump gear. do the chain was lose.
The head is on
did the dial indicter
1mm at 11 degrees after TDC, tried 2 mm at 12 degrees as well
can get 2 full revolution and about 1/4 past .. get piston to valve contact/
interference..

is there a firing order.. why am i getting by 2 complete and then interference??
this engine has 280,000 mile on it , everything looks good, it ran well and the cam is worn a little, but not bad.

Is it possible that when I had the head planed, a problem was created there??
any suggestions

Don't know about the interference problem, but I do know the firing order of the 602 is 1-2-4-5-3.

I can be of no help unless I get a brainwave. Someone else might though. You only trued the head a little as the head gasket was sealing when you had the sticky valve? If that is so then the head would not have been over planed. The two total crank turns plus a little to interference really disturbs me. What I am about to describe is only for you to consider. It is really a long shot. If you had a valve that was jamming in #4 or #5 cylinder. The cam might have twisted a little with the load in the effort to deal with it. Was there a heavy contact mark on the piston when you had the head off? Rather than light sticking was that valve jammed pretty well in the guide? Also I have never seen a twisted cam in a mercedes but have on other brands. I am not suggesting this is your problem either. More for you to consider if all other options are exhausted. The other problem is you would have to get a look at another cam with the same amount of cylinders and firing order to get a refference. Wait and see if others post and consider there suggestions. Remember what I mention is a very long shot. Your engines firing order makes an easy check of the cam very hard. If a stuck valve was in #1 cylinder it could not happen in my opinion.
