There are no commercially available air ride suspension kits for that vehicle because the shock lives inside the spring. Deleting the shock is not an acceptable solution.

You will have to fabricate your own, and relocate the rear shock..

I believe he used the word "Air" if he already had SLS then he wouldn't have posted his thread...

Lowering the rear is the easy part. Smaller spring pads will do that trick. It's lowering the front that's the challenge.

I'm going to cut the springs on the SD and see if I can get it down by 1" or so.

there are also bag/spring shocks that replace the shock and the spring. might requuire some fab work to get them in but seems possible. go to air rides website and look for shockwave

Hey Brian, I did that on the 500SEL. 1 bottom link cut from front and rear and 1 bump pads. Not too shabby, its a good look for it.

So, how much did removing one link it lower it? By one link I'm assuming you mean one turn?
Did the 500SEL have SLS?

I was toying with the idea of air bag suspension but I decided against it. Mainly because the handeling would suck.. The geometry of the suspension is ever changing since the car is riding on a cushion of air.. just forget it and cut the springs

The firestone ride Rite kits seem like they could work. you'd have to fab upper and lower cups that fit where a coil spring went but I think that would be more up to the challenge of daily driving than airbags designed for the car hobbyist and not meant to be used ALL the time.

I would go with shockwaves if I had too. Air bags ride like crap. I'm just going to stick with the Vogtland springs when they come and thin spring cups. Plus a custom skid plate... I want to be low enough to kill road relfectors
