cross country travel problems?

Don't know if this is the right place to mention this or not, but if anybody is traveling through South Central Kansas or North Central Oklahoma, (in their Diesel Benz of course), and have car problems and looking for a place to repair their cars, I would be willing to offer my farm shop. I don't own a Mercedes(yet), but have been looking, and enjoy reading on this site. I just have a regular farm shop, tools, jacks, air compressor, torch, etc, but thought I would mention this for you travelers whereever you may be. I may have to clean an area for you to do your work, but that would be no problem, as I would enjoy looking at what you are driving! Just a FYI to keep in mind! Really enjoy reading all the info on this site! I live south of Wichita, Kansas about 30 miles.
thanks,
coadman

I'm game in IL (Charleston, zip code 61920 to be exact). Is there a Diesel 911 section somewhere on the forums? The VW Bus forum I was on had a 911 section for on-the-road emergencies, and a truck forum had a "Diesel Down" section. Not a bad idea. Of course, Mercedes offers the free roadside assistance for simple stuff, but this is a good idea for bigger issues. I have a modest tool collection, but I know the sinking feeling of a breakdown, and can lend a little morale boost and a shoulder to lean on if nothing else... And my driveway can store a broken Benz for a short while if absolutely necessary.

Ahhh! I get the thread now.
I live off exit 27 from I 85 in North Carolina
My shop is very nice, I have TONS of MB parts cars, and a fairly decent level of experience with them. Heck, I even have a winch on my trailer if you are not too far away with problems!

This is an excellent idea and should be a sticky, or even be its own forum! If there were a way to keep a running tab of volunteers, by city & state, it would make an excellent glove box companion!

Who knows, maybe somebody will drop by my farm in their Mercedes, get frustrated from working on it, and just give it to me to dispose of! Then I will finally have a Mercedes!

A nice thread.

I was going to take my MB 300 D Trubo to Oklahoma this past thanksgiving. It is a really nice driving 85. But I took the Lincoln because if I needed help I wouldn't know where to go. Being a school bus driver, I had to be back on time. But I think it is a wonderful offer. And I will do the same. A good garage, good tools and quick access to more if needed. Have jacks, ramps and many basic shop necessities. North of Indy about 25 miles north of I-70, midway between I-65 and I-69, say 10 miles from each. Room to put up a tent also if you need to. PM me if you want telephone number.
