82 300D- No Start, No Electricals
 

My 300d won't start with the key, or shut-off, can be jumped from the fender well connection- so not ground or starter. Also, no electrical items work, ie. windows, blinkers etc...

The trouble seems to be in the ignition system or tumbler. Any ideas of what I need to replace?

look under the dash and make sure the cables are all connected to the switch, then check all your fuses...
that is unusual for these cars.

Update on problem
 

I just spoke with a mechanic that had looked at my car when a friend had it and his advice was that the ignition switch needed replacing and that he would recommend replacing the whole steering lock assembly.

Does anyone have experience with this problem and with his potential solution?
