Secondary pump? B2?

Can someone point me to some photos or an exploded diagram of a 300D auto-transmission? I have a bad leak coming from something on the right side at the rear of the unit, but I don't know for certain what it is.

I have a little 2-3 flaring, but mostly because it keeps dumping its fluid out and other vac-related problems. Otherwise it engages all gears and holds, so I'm not convinced it's the B2 based on what I've read. Thanks in advance.

Jerry

More information: It doesn't appear to leak when in "D", but leaks a *lot* when in "P". Haven't tested reverse yet. Does that mean anything to anyone?

2-3 flare is indicative of a weak K1 spring kit needing replacement.

Will read up on K1

Thanks. Could that also be the source of my leak? Is it housed in the location I'm describing?

AFIK, you have to remove the pan to get to the K1 as it is in the valve body.

Tranny leaks are hard to find. Do you have access to a pit where you can wash the tranny off, and then look for leaks?

IIRC, tranny fluid level rises a bit in the pan when the car is in park, and the engine shut off, due to no oil pumping. Could be leaking from the dipstick/filler tube or a leaky pan gasket.

My major ATF leak was caused by a ATF cooler hard line. The clip on the side above the oil pan pinched the line and it had sprung a leak. I had to cut it in two, slip each end into a hose, and clamp both sides off. (I have a new (used) ATF cooler hard line on the way.)

Sounds like yours is further back, though.

Thanks. Yes, mine is further back, coming from a round housing about midway up the right side toward the back. It looks like it has a few small screws around the outside of it, and fluid is coming out of the middle.

I was wrong, it does leak in gear as well as in Park. I'll try to drop the tranny down next weekend and get a picture of the area I'm talking about.

Leak is here

I found that photo in another thread. That's where my leak is. What is this, just so I'm certain I'm ordering the right stuff?

Thanks!

Looks like the auxiliary pump to me which is just behind the B2 piston.

If I remember correctly, there's a fair amount of spring force in the pump so if you pull the snap ring to replace any teflon or rubber seals, be careful. I would recommend removing the pump completely to do it on a workbench instead. You will probably need to tap the cap with a rubber mallet...this is where it could fly off due to spring force (though not like the b1 spring ).

Thanks

That's what I was looking for. Thanks. I can't get the transmission to drop low enough by just unbolting the mount. I may try removing the driveshaft and taking the motor mount bolts out. Maybe that will let it pivot enough to clear the frame down there.

I don't recommend that. Try first by jacking the motor up at the oil pan to tilt the transmission down. Sure it will still be attached the shocks, but they aren't designed to hold the engine up. The manual says the secondary pump is an on vehicle service job. If I remember correctly there's no shaft or anything that would require clearance so it's just a matter of getting the allen wrench up in there. Only a few millimeters to get the pump past the lip.
