what would you take from a bone yard?
There is a guy who has a few mercedes. Was wandering what some of you veteran mb guys/girls would grab for yours?

anything euro interior/exterior... usual items... Fastners, trim, wood pieces, switches.. .actually a complete car for parts.. Parts cars rock.
|
An SLS valve for a 124 wagon.
|
I rarely go to the junkyards looking for specific items. I just grab things that catch my interest.
For example, yesterday I grabbed some more Saab intercooler tubing and a Nissan Turbo 280Z cruise control actuator. |
ton of interior bits and pieces, headlights, bumper mount, suspension parts
|
anyting that in better shape then what u currently have on ur car, haha!

Interior bits, as mentioned.
Set of injectors, voltage regulator (or entire alternator), battery cables/tray, tail light sockets (for upgrade to brake lights), axle (how are your's looking). Just depends on how much space you have, how many $ you want to spend... |
Though I usually wait for an excuse of needing something specific to go hunt the yards, (only way I can control my urges) I always take a full complement of tools, even if it's just for a dash screw cover, and I always search over the whole yard, never know what you'll find hiding in the oddest spots out there....(I tend to have a shopping list built up by time I get there)
If/when I find a Benz out there that wasnt already cleaned out, I'd go for the odd/rare stuff such as wagon suspension controls or euro parts, go for the interior bits, especially those prone to wear/damage/weathering, and of course, whats better than or needed for mine, lol. |
There is more to it than just parts.......
Date and marry the wrecking yard guy's daughter....and if his wife has a license and owns a liqour store, then that cinches the deal....uh, marriage .

thanks for the input.
it seems that accesesory, cosmetics, like those plastic pieces that go in between the the interior door handle and panel, that the middle bolt runs through to attach to the door. is what ya all go after-generally. i thought about grabbing door handle(s), wiper, power widow, etc- motors. but then i think (brainstorm) i spend the time to pull it out, sits collects dust until the time i need it, put it in... either works for ever or not at all. here are some of his prices- owners manual 15, door handles 25,drivers seat 75-100, antenna-5, i need a price on a side mirror brian |
cruise control amps, climate control, lenses, fog/driving lights for 123's.
Where is this place at? I will be coming over to Pinelas county later this month. |
Climate control servos if he has early 123's or 116's.

Went to the bone yard today. There was a '84 300d there that was pretty torn up. I did manage to score a set of injectors. Was looking for a seat spring.
There were some parts that were still there. KKK turbo Injector pump Bundt rims Window regulators power steering pump cruise control Rear differential The whole engine was in pretty good shape I was wondering if it would be worth it to grab some of these parts. Is there a demand for them? Danny |
