anyone know where to get a calliper washer?

I removed the caliper because it was leaking from between the 2 half's of the caliper. There was a ton of rust looking crud. I'm putting a new seal kit but it looks like I'm going to need the 2 washers that seal the 2 caliper half's together. Anyone know where to get them. THANKS RAY M

Have not seperated calipers before, so I'm not sure of what you are referring to, try here http://*************** to do a search for parts. Or here http://**************.com ask questions there. Or call Phil on this site. Good luck.

There is plenty of guidance that says "Do not separate the caliper halves."

I concur - opening the caliper halves typically means (a) it's time for new/rebuilt calipers and (2) no core refund for you!

i think it's worth it to get rebuilt calipers.. DIY style on brakes seems like a safety hazard to me. I got a caliper for about $50 (not including core charge) at the local auto store. i wouldnt open it if it were my caliper in case they wouldnt take it for the core.

The only important thing in a car is that it stops, everything else is negotiable. This is why I like juicy tires and brakes that stop on a dime. I wouldn't skimp on either.

I've seperated them before a few times. There are 2 small washer(o ring)(grommet), whatever in between them. One on the upper level. The other below. Very very simple. If you have the washer you replace it and close it back up. Almost as simple as changing brake pads. Just take care to observe them for a few days after. $0.00 COST RAY M
