Turbo Wastegate Diaphragm HELP!

This is on a 1982 300D. I can't locate a wastegate diaphragm anywhere. Anyone know of a turbo charger builder that may have one? I really don't want to put out right now for a rebuilt one for just a diaphragm.

I thought the '82s were not turbocharged.

If I am mistaken what turbo do you have? KKK or garret? I have a spare Garret turbo with a good waste gate.

82 was the first year for a w123 turbo in the US. I have the 82. I looked at a non turbo 81. I liked the turbo better, as it does not take it as long to get out of its own way.

Actually, 1982 was the first year of the turbos. KKK came in I believe late '83 to '85.

I hope to get the diaphragm and spring like what use to come in the kits from what I understand. I've contacted MB USA inc but I've not heard back. I'm going to do some searching for Garret Turbos tonight unless someone else can locate one. It seams odd that it would not be available, although testing the pressures on the car may have wrecked a few during testing. That may be why they are only on rebuilds.

Up-date...Bump

Well I haven't found anything yet. Only one response from MB USA (Jennie) and she said she was still looking.

Does anyone know of a shop that builds turbo chargers?

You positive it is a replaceable part? I have a waste gate from a 300SDL in front of me at it is stamped together. No way to access the diaphragm with out resorting to a grinder.

I know of a few places that rebuild turbos...not in your neck of the woods though.

The waste gate does come appart and is adjustable. It ain't easy but it can be done. See: [url]http://www.serenitysys.com/MB/Service_Info/Turbo_tweak/tweaking_the_mercedes_617_turbo_.htm

I have heard of that procedure but not seen pictures. There is a good chance that the older wastegate is different. That link is not working for me, can you double check it?
