How is it that everyone else's 300D's get 38 MPG, but mine only get 22 with a tailwind..?

simply put no. especially with an auto tranny its getting 25 max.

Go to Ireland...they have designed all the roads to run down hill!

My heavier SD gets far more than that on the freeway. I receive 28-31mpg all the time.

Well, as per MB if I can recall. The old OM617 turbo 300D's get around 35 mpg at 55 mph with the 3.07.

When they were brand spanking new, of course.

I get 22-26mpg.

That's a nonturbo as well, 25mpg max.

Here's the response:

Miles per gallon depends on how you drive. If drive correctly you will get better gas mileage. I drive this vehicle daily and know what gas mileage this gets. If this vehicle was a TURBO i would get less gas mileage. THAT YOU SHOULD SINCE YOU KNOW SO MUCH. My brother has a turbo and he gets 30 miles per gallon. I am a car person, I know my vehicle as well as many others. Get your info correct sir.

He might say - oh, I meant 28 mpg. It'll probably get 38 mpg at a steady 35 mph. Slow speed in top gear for an entire tankfull. Paul.

Saw a w140 with the 350 motor in it on NYC craigslist. Also said it got 38mpg .

Never have done better than about 25mpg in mine, though have heard 27-29mpg on a light foot.
