Mystery Vacuum Pod in 300d ACC System
I have identified a vacuum pod in my 1984 300d turbo diesel ACC that is leaking hugely. Even when the ACC system is turned off, there is vacuum to this pod, and it is located far to the right under the dash.
The only resource I have to identify vacuum pods is online photos in part catalogs, and I can't find it. Some pictures are at http://s151.photobucket.com/albums/s138/arew264/Benz%20300d%20Mystery%20Pod/ Anyone know what this is or where I can get one? |

That appears to be called "Circulating Air Flap" element.

Thank you!
I need to remember to look for part numbers. I'm a noob and completely forgot that I could do that. Wonder why this doesn't appear under vacuum elements when I search... |

Because you evidently have to know the part number in advance.

Okay, I have the pod out, and hoping to save the 50 bucks for a new pod, I transplanted the rubber diaphragm from my new center vent pod (turns out the center vent pod was fine) and it now works. Is there some way that I could get rubber diaphragms that would fit these without having to buy the whole pod? I remember seeing somewhere that people were getting them from a vacuum repair kit or something along those lines, although I can't be sure.

Yes, do a search. There is info about the repair kits around.
