Is this a good price

1991 350sdl
200,000 miles
1 small rust spot by rear winsheild
1 worn spot on driver seat
small imperfections(it says a headlight is out, but its they all work, ect)

$4600, should I try for 4100, or is this fair...I dont want to rip anybody off.

The best deal is to avoid 350sdl's completely.

Better alternatives exist

This is the infamous "rod bender" diesel engine, there's more or less about a 50% chance that this example could be a bad one. Do a search for "rod bender". It COULD be all right, but I wouldn't chance it.:greedy:

It's also way overpriced for what it is. Perhaps you'd be better served by looking at the earlier models, like an 84-87 SD or SDL sedan, without the trap oxider problem, and rust free. That's just my opinion.

Although it is written for gas powered W126 coupes, the buyers guide at www.mbcoupes.com is worth a look, for the tips.

This is a true statement! The rod bending likelihood would take away any joy of ownership......

For a 350SDL yeah thats a good price.

For that same money you can get a much lower mileage 420SEL of similer year, buy the 420. :D
