Welcome to the forum.
Is there a specific question you have about replacing them? If you just need general info here is a link to the parts. http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp?TP=1&F=210225&M=606%2E962&GA=722%2E608&CT=M&cat=19T&SID=18&SGR=075&SGN=03

Hi guys, I have a busted oil cooler line: 1999 E300TD Oil Leak - Benzworld.org - Mercedes-Benz Discussion Forum
I've managed to detach the lines and probably busted them up even more trying to thread them out. Do you know how I can get these out and where I could get new ones as well? The link is dated it seems... |

I believe the Nipples are a different size than the 617s; there is one thread on that somewhere where someone found that out.

Hi Diesel 911,
I'm not sure, the oil cooler line is attached to a cube-like piece that then attaches to the oil cooler. This cube piece has become detached from the oil cooler, but is still attached to the line. If this piece has worn threads, is it possible to replace? Also, how do I even get these lines out of the car? Do I have to remove the front end of the car somehow, because there is too much stuff in the way to get them out! |

If the other Hose and that cube shaped piece are still attached to the Cooler My best guess right now is that the cube piece pulled off of the Cooler and you will need a new Cooler. But, remember that is a guess. Hope someone who owns one will chime in. Also do you think if the Oil Cooler was removed the Oil Cooler lines could come out torwards the front if the Part of the Front was removed?

Which one of the below pics looks like your Oil Cooler system; A, B, or C?

Hi D/911
The second picture "B" is most definitely my oil cooler. I think if the front of the car was off I could get the lines out, perhaps even without removing the cooler, but I'm not sure. So that cube piece in the diagram is what as come detached. I can't see any evidence of damage on the cooler or the cube, though being removed, it is perhaps stripped. It almost looks like I could clean it off and screw it back in if it was not still attached to the oil cooler line, which is somewhat crimped at this point. I really hope I don't have to replace the oil cooler, they don't look priced to happy. I'm also trying to figure out if the diesel oil cooler/lines are the same as on the gas e320 version as I have a lead for parts there. |

Since they don't show the Cube along with the Line as a seperate part My best guess is the Cube was attached to the Cooler.
Once the Cooler is out you will have a better idea if it can be repaird or not. I have tried but cannot come up with a part number for the Oil Cooler. When I look at the Russian Sites all 3 of the different coolers have an itme number 0f 50/15 and I don't know where to look for that.

Oil cooler oil circulation. Oil thermostat.
Quote:
I wonder if you know about the oil cooling system, used by turboed MB. In my case, I have an oil radiator located in front of left Wheel below. From what I have read, the hot oil should circulate through it and be cooled. However, I don´t feel any heat in the oil cooler. Does it have a thermostat to control oil circulation? If so, do you know how to test if thermostat is working? I do care of my recently acquired 1993 turbodiésel W124, with OM603 engine. I haven´t pushed it much I confess. Thanks in advance, Oldbeaver |

The test would be somewhat as you said. Take it for a drive and see if it gets hot but you need to drive it reasonable amount of time to achieve that. If someone would post a site that has the Manual there would be a description of what temp the Thermostat starts to open and what temp it is fully open at. They have those Thermometers that you point at stuff and it give you the Temp. But, I doubt if they are real accurate. I have a cheapie one and it for sure is about 10 degrees off; but they do some idea what is going on.
