300TDT Tranny Swap

I searched the forum to no avail. What trannies would fit my '81 300TDT (wagon) with electronic speedometer?

Brad,

I think you'll find some trannies in Hollywood, just ask Hugh Grant. Whether Hugh likes your tranny or not, well you'll have to work that out with him.

Electric Speedo? That has to be from a 126 swapped in right? Are you sure its not just the CC hookup?

It may be a swap over from a 126, but I doubt it. On car-parts.com (salvage search engine) it says the 300TD may have an electric speedo. Will a transmission from an SD work?

Yes any of the 6bolts pans will work, you will have to swap the rear piece that hooks up to the drive shaft afaik. I just pull one from an 85 300D which is mostly electric and it had a manual speedo cable. I think the "electric" portion they are refering to is the CC pickup. Someone else will have to speak up but AFAIK only the SD's had electronic pickups.

FWIW: there was never a DT or TDT series.

In a w123 I think an electronic speedo was only in 85.

Definitely not on the wagon. I have a '85 in stock and it has a cable speedo.

Ya I was pretty sure they are just referring to the electric CC pickup. TchrTchr, pull your speedo and check. I bet its got a speedo cable.
