Worth the money? 190D manual
So I opened the local paper, and what did I find?
85 Mercedes Diesel, needs work. Power everything, body in good shape. $600 OBO  Of course, I call the number right away, and find out it's a 190D 2.2 manual with a busted IP. I go to check it out, and find out it's been sitting in a detailing lot for probably a year (so long that a couple tires are totally flat). It's had the usual rust at the jack points, but it looks like they were fixed, however poorly. Trick is, the entire IP, fuel filter housing, belts, and camshaft cover are missing. The owner of the lot showed me the car, so he didn't know if the parts were still around. I think there were some other things missing too, but I'm not that familiar with the 201. My question: am I passing up an incredible deal on a much sought-after car? :dizzy2: |
My opinion based on the incomplete engine, rust problems, and general availabilty of the car is that it is at best a parts car.

According to your signature line you already own a 1976 300D that does not run. I don't want to sound like your wife but why don't you fix the 300D you already own before you buy another car that doesn't run?

I would not buy a "parts" car for parts you cant use. It would be different if you had a 190 or two.

It's worth a few hundred as it doesn't run.
