(This is a repost since apparently some posts were lost).

I'm looking for a source to purchase Mobil Delvac 1
oil for my 87 300TD. Any places through the 'Net that
offer this oil at a good price?

Go to your local Mobil gas station and ask about area distributors. Typically it's the distributors that sell to fleets who has this stuff...they sell it (literally) by the gallon. I know of no deals anywhere on the net for this stuff, and shipping would likely negate any deal you might get. Stuff goes for nearly $20 U.S. per gallon.

Mobil has an 800 number on their website - look under
commercial lubricants. They'll give you the nearest
distributor. Depending on the size of your town, it may
not be too far away.

Failing that, it is possible to mailorder Delvac-1. Here's
an email I saved on the topic. Note that I have not used
this vendor, hence cannot vouch for them:
-----
I read your email on the list. I have a 1997 E300 Diesel and have been
ordering Mobil Delvac-1 for several years from Chesapeake Petroleum in Upper
Marlboro, Maryland (just north of Wash DC). Their old name used to be P&W
Lubricants. Even with the UPS shipping, they have the best price I have
been able to find. If you are close, you can pick it up in person and save
the shipping. A case contains 4 one-gallon containers. If you live outside
of Maryland and have it shipped, I don't think you have to pay the tax.
Here is the pertinent information:

Now DBA Chesapeake Petroleum POC: Donna

301 599-6500

Case of Mobil Delvac 1 -- $89.52

$188.00 incl tax of $8.96 for two cases
------------------
Actually, that price sounds high. I paid just under $70/case
locally in Dallas.

Be careful when shopping at Wal-Mart, etc. They likely stock
Delvac-1200 and/or Delvac-1300. These are good quality
conventional oils, but not synthetics.

If having it shipped in, I would try to get them to double box it if possible. The cardboard container is not very substantial. I would hate to have a jug get damaged considering how much it costs.

Members of the TDICLUB site have discussed this in detail. It seems Gene Harris Petroleum (GHPI) has the best delivered price on Mobil Delvac 1.

Recently I requested a quote for a UPS-delivered case. It was just under $80 for the case of oil and about $20 shipping from Texas to Illinois.

Considering my closest merchant that sells Delvac-1 charges 27.95/gal and is 35 miles away, the price from GHPI didn't seem that bad.

The website address is http://www.ghpi.org or they can be contacted at 1.888.336.GHPI (ask for Brad).
