cold clatter... diesel purge or techtron...

About 3 months ago, I had a pretty good rattle on starteup that a local tech diagnosed as a nailing injector. He ran a diesel purge. It's been about 6K miles, and while the heavy rattling isn't back, the car doesn't sound so happy at idle. I figure I have a couple of choices.... my #1 choice is to pull the injectors and have them checked, I'm still figuring out where to go. (near Reading PA) I've run thru a few bottles of Diesel Clean. It doesn't seem to do anything. I've heard that Chevron Techtron can be used, but I haven't found were it's indicated for diesels. thoughts? ideas?

Since I'm like three steps in front of ya, ( and drove up rt479?? thru the nor'easter with my "new" Mbz last Fri from PHL- **whatyya y'all use for rock salts ROCKS. man those salt trucks gotta crush the mix better! I swear some chips are brand new !)

Anyway, since I have the "learn it" I'm going to pop the manifold ( required on this one ) and pull the valve cover as well. Check the valvetrain. ( again its new to me and it wasnt pampered! )

Funny thing at cubs last night, One dad, restaurant manager offers me like 40-50 glas of fryer grease free, A WEEK, and then says, hey you have to ask a farmer who they use, and of course, in Graceland , the farmer is right there, " Hey David, who do you use.... " )

Hooked up with the farm boys local diesel inj man. Pumps, nozzles, whatever. I'm pulling all six, buying nothing other than new heat washers from the dealer, and having Dan test them and hopefully find a foul.

Plug them back in and RUN this bad little blackie!

Also ran a search from Bosch on local authorized. Two popped up. One guy put me on hold while he figured it out. The second guy said, " Sure , we rebuild them for $70."

I;m thinking he must mean for the brace of them, naw, and then , " A piece?"

"Yeah" Mingya..... $420 + tax In NewYAAk... wt..?

Pull em and have someone test them. Cant imagine its much more than cleaning one or two of them up good.

Short answer. yeah, 100K is about right for service. Reading guys here saying, naw I've had mine 200. .. yeah whatever... I know what a fleck of dust/gum can do to a fuel system if it happens to hang up in the wrong place... Mine have 220, and they're in need it seems.

(BUT, might be that the IP timing is off. Havent done that yet, but pretty simple with the two bulb tool as per the serivce manual instructions.
Someone else will have to adress that, I dont know what the symptoms are. I have one bad jug, not six.)
