1980 300SD…..drain hole????

Hello All,

Have an issue and need some input.

My 1980 300SD (W116 body) is gathering water in the fuel filler area. Whenever it rains and I open the fuel filler door there is water that isn’t draining. So, is there a drain hole in the area where you fill up your car? If so, I guess mine is plugged. How do I unplug it so it drains?

Thanks!!

Mine has a drain hole in it. Never had to clear it but I did have to clear the drains under the hood and used an old bicycle brake cable (got a broken one from a bike shop for free).

Yes, there is a drain in there. It connects to a hose routes the water behind the trunk liner and out the bottom.

Be careful with putting a lot of water pressure through there. The hose can come off and then you will have water draining into your trunk.
