some updates on this baby...

Well, over the weekend i perform exploratory surgery (removing trim, fenders,... )to check for rust and clean the undersides...

Found little rust rust here and there and a vast amount of dust accumulated under fenders and trim. Some of it crusting, some of it composting...
Gates strut channels were particularly nasty.

The real chock came when i removed both bumpers (euro). These things are flimsy . A more appropriate name would be "euro bandaids". The complete euro bumper set weight less than either americans....

I tried also to inspect the SLS, mainly to find the location of the filter (where in bloody hell is it??).

Cool car, Rashakor! I just bought an '80 Euro 300D (sedan) with SLS and a few other interesting options and hope I fare as well as you did in your purchase. Looks like a great deal to me -- hope you continue to find that to be the case! Good luck with the refreshing, and let me know what you find out about servicing/inspecting the SLS. Thanks!

On my '84, it's below the return line fitting in the reservoir. Unscrew the lid and the filter is below that. The filter itself is removed by pushing up on the spring while twisting or translating the upper end to disengage the hook that's in a hole. That description ain't very clear, but that's how it is.
