More vacuum questions

Does the vacuum system have a filtered inlet/outlet? While working on my car this weekend I noticed this filter connected to the vacuum system. Is this normal or did the PO do some mods? P.S. Still waiting on more answers for my thread of Another vacuum question. Hesitant on installing the new vacuum booster hose until I solve other problems. WVO/ SVO Just do it right

Filter was probably added by PO. I have heard of people doing this to monitor for oil in the system.

WVO is the way to go!

There is a filter for the vacuum system on your car. Check the vacuum diagrams on this site. You will know where it should be. Some have modified it since they have removed emission gadgets for tests.

My '82 setup does not look like that. RMarzan posted a pre '85 and an '85 vacuum diagram for the engine.

I modified mine for the reason that it was hacked by the previous owner, so i hacked it up some more in a positive way.
I put 2 in-line filters. one coming from the EGR valve to the EGR changover valve and another one on the line that vents to the atmosphere.

Hey Chef;

I noticed that you have a metal screw in your vacuum connector hose.

What is that about?

The tow driver delivered my 82 300CD this afternoon. First time I saw it.

& there are 2 spots in my hose that have screws plugging it up.

I don't think they are OEM screws....

Thanks for the help to all. Still can't read the f'n diagram that's why I took pictures. Is this vent supposed to be one way? No Austin those aren't OEM screws. Got a new booster hose but when I connect it the car won't shut off and I lose center blower vents. Still trying to figure that one out. Glad the CD arrived. Read the story about the bullet holes. Thanks for the tips on cleaning out around the hinge areas.

Thats a filter not a vent. Incase the fuel shutoff diaphram vents it will help prevent oil from contaminating the rest of the system. OEM on 85's. (took them long enough to figure that one out eh?).

The last few pictures there are not nescerily vac lines. The one that feeds of the ALDA nipple is the ARV line that runs to alot of placese. If the car isnt shutting off try removing everything but the shutoff, plug the rest and plug the others back in one at a time. Take more pics before you do.

It will be brown or brown with blue and runs behind the IP to the vac pod that is the fuel shutoff. How are you brakes?

Great Brakes

Plugged fuel door lock and passenger door diaphragm, both with bad rubber. As you can see two other lines plugged off the booster hose, new hose and connected = no shut off + no center vents Thanks for your help.
