Steering Dampner..

How will I know if my Steering dampner is shot??

I have some slack in my steering. aside form the obvious tie-rods, whatelse in the steering could give slack and how can my steering be made nice and tight again?

The steering damper is like a weak shock absorber. Unbolt one side and work it in and out, if it's stiff you are good....If it feels like "pushing a straw through water" then it's shot, replace it. Mine was somewhere inbetween and I was filling out a small order and picked one up and put it on....I could tell/feel a difference.

They're what, $25 tops? If in doubt, replace it.

Bad idler arm bushings can mush up your steering. Jack up the RF wheel and check for play with the LF tire on the ground.

Can't go wrong with either. I think AutoZone stocks them cheap!

Mine was 30 bucks at the dealer, so I figured I'd replace it.
