'78 240D injection pump....help!

i found a crack on my injection pump yesterday (explains why the block was always wet). anyways... i found a used '79 injection pump on ebay, but don't know if it'll work. can anyone tell me anything regarding this part. all i know is i'm not paying $1100 for a rebuilt from Performance Parts!
only paid $500 for the car!

oh, my car was built in march of 1978-if that helps....

As long as it came off another 240 it will work.

Like bgkast said what's cracked, I never heard of an IP cracking before.

How would an IP crack, some one prying on it with a mango bar to change the timing with the hard lines still attached?

more data just came in

hey roy,
i poked around last night, tried to get a pic, but couldn't get a good shot. there's a hole about the size of my pinky, right next to the 518 bolt on the diagram you sent. safe to say this isn't a factory design!
