What should it cost for this work?

I found a donor tranny from an 85 300D turbo for my car of the same;

The donor was a wreck with only 125,000miles;

So i can get a used tranny for 400. cash- place has a good rep

And my tranny shop wants 400. for the install complete. He is a good tranny shop.

Is this a good deal. I think it is, buty Iam not familiar with these costs.

400 to swap transmissions sounds like a pretty darn good deal to me.

It is 800 total.

400 for the parts with the torque converter
& 400 for the labor.

Still good?

Yep, good deal, considering I paid $1200 for the same work on California for my Nissan Truck. $600 for tranny and TC, $600 labor, and this was in 2002.

Cool;

So now I'll have an '85 300D turbod

with 306,xxx. on 'er
Silver w/ middle red MB Tex - nice interior dash & seats (except the Driver's )
nice headliner.....
A real good engine- burns no oil - new timing chain- valves adjusted

Pretty new trannie-

Completly redone ACC system - a functional vacuum system-

nice set of Kumhos- decent suspension - could use new Billsteins...

negatives are rust by rear windshield - under door bottoms in rear - some body surface rust under trim holes- a decent spot on the drivers side next to the front windshield ....

ANd no room for her in the stable in about 10 days.....

Any suggestions?????

...

A Sunroof that needs to be put back together.
