How hard is front collision repair?
I have recently come across a 1981 300d with damage to right fender. I noticed that the fender well is welded to the fender. It also holds the shick mounts. How difficult is it to realign the fender well after collision damage? I am new to MB. This would have never been a problem in americian cars. Maybe we are expected to be bad drivers.

You just gotta be good with a welder and/or saw. You can cut along seams and weld. That's how I got my current 300SD,,, The PO bought a wreck,,, I sold him the radiator core and Passenger side inner fender (that I cut out of a car) adn a few other items, then I bought the car from him. He did a decent job welding the lines match up nice etc,,,

On the 81, the inner fender apron and shock/spring towers are one welded piece to the body and core support, the fender itself is not welded to anything. Some have a good hefty coating of seam sealer in the joints that virtualy glue the fender on even without the bolts, but no welds. The extremity of the damage is a factor too, might be something you can just pull out, might be severe with hidden damage you can't see.
