mmy car was nailing very loud and putting out black smoke so I changed both fuel filters and air filter. the nailing has almost disapeared and the car only smokes at idle otherwise rums fine gets 25 mpg. this car has never smoked at idle and engine was always quiet. What could be wrong?
PS this is a MB factory rebuilt with 30000 miles.
I'm on vacation in seveirville Tenn.
Please help

Do you have any fuel leaks? How are the injectors? Can you swap the bad cylinder's injector with one next to it and see if the nailing follows?
