W126 Sunroof Drains

Inspired by another case of wetass after the latest rains, I decided to find and clear the drains on the SDL.

I believe that I found two of the elusive SO*s. Searching the forum didn't reveal their locations and the FSM was no help so, I crawled under the car and started looking for tubes exiting the body in the same place on both sides of the car...what I found in the back of each of the rear wheel wells was a short rubber tube facing downward with an angled tip. I ran weed eater string up them until it wouldn't go any further and wiggled it around. The length of the sting was really close to the distance from the tube end to the back of the sunroof.

I have no idea where the front drains exit, probably behind one of the door hinges like on the 123.

I'm crossin' my fingers....that I'm done with this.

Nope, it's the sunroof. If I drive the car it drips on the headrest but my bride is 6' 2" and she puts the seat further back so that it runs right into the seat from the back of the sunroof.

Mine has always drooled a little down the left front pillar and onto the floor, not enough for me to be overly concerned...just a "drip........drip.......drip....." when raining.....but it dripped faster during the heavy rains here this week, and I want to fix it....its probably the drain, because if the car is parked nose-up a couple degrees it doesn't leak at all, nor does it usually leak while driving. Thankfully my sunroof still functions ok. I do need to grease the rails though. I'll get some MB sunroof grease from the dealer before I open it up this season.

Keep in mind if you get the grease from the dealer, you're gonna pay a lot of money for a large tub that'll probably outlast the car, or maybe even you!

Hmm....maybe I could ask them to give me some in a little tupperware for some $$? They're pretty nice about that stuff....they may even just give me some. They always give me crush washers for free and such....
