This is wierd

When in Neutral the car wont roll,84 300cd ,no start, just bought last month and still in the hunt for the problem ,jacked it up yesterday after trying to unsuccessfully roll backwards in the garage .The driver rear tire is locked after about a 1/4 turn ,the car is in neutral and had to push the car on a jack ,this is curious. Is the trannie locked up some how ,or the rear end ? Ill try more hunting around it tonite.

I assume you checked the caliper and the brakes are not stuck, but what about the parking break?

Take your drive shaft apart at the rear end flex coupling. This will isolate the rear end and associated brakes and lug nuts from the tranny. If it still won't roll then you problem is in the rear end. Or maybe the front wheel system...

I went through the same thing you did and i found out that I had the wrong wheel lug bolts in there! If you are using the Bundt cake wheels and you try to put on a stock wheel with the Bundt cake wheel lug bolts, the car will only roll about 1/4th of a wheel turn because the longer bolt will strike the caliper and lock up the wheel.

Those are the best, cheapest, and easiest kind of problems to fix though, beats dissecting the entire rear end.....
