Additional Inline Fuel Filter??

Does anyone see a problem with adding an in-line, plastic fuel filter to catch more junk from greasel? This would make for two of them prior to the spin on filter.

I'd like to put one a bit higher, just after the metal line. Seems like it would be easier to change out while adding more protection?

Thanks,

Diesel Don

I was running 3 in series at one point, when I first switched to bio. When the one at the back clogged, I just pulled it off and stuck the lines back together... Made for super fast filter changes at the side of the road..

Additional inline fuel filters

I've I've been running two for about a year, with good results. Sure makes changing the first on in line alot easier and cleaner. Then I just wash em out with rug and put em back in

I had put an inline filter in before the first MB clear filter. I had used a fram filter (clear see through made for gas engines) worked great for 4000 miles, but on the way to Pa, running 60 or so the motor started to slow down and lose power. I first thought of a fuel problem and was correct as the filter element (fluted paper) was collapsing inside the filter housing. I replaced that filter with another of the same kind and went 80 miles more and had the same problem. I then removed that filter completely and ran only the 2 stock mb filters w/ no more problems. BTW I was running B100 and the temps. were about 45F. 2 mb prefilters would be the way to go, don't use filters made for gas a learning experience!

Yep, small paper filters will not last long, especially if there is any water present.

Word of caution, I noticed at Autozone that the prefilter they stock for MB diesel applications is now a paper element instead of the plastic mesh filter they used to stock.
