New 07 Diesels

Has anyone here driven one of the new E320 Diesels with the 7 speed Trannies?

Has anyone whom has noticed anything " weird" with the tranny and how it shifted?

I drove a brand new Bluetec diesel and did notice some weirdness about the tranny although it is probably just that I had never driven an automatic with more than 4 speeds. It seemed to shift alot.

Question: Are these retrofitable to my 95 606.910 block?

Sure would like a bit of OD so maybe the car can reach out and touch 40 mpg.

Rather annoying, that. Lexus has an 8 speed automatic, bet that'd drive ya nuts.

Not needed at all with these modern high torque engines thats for sure

Ahhh yes this board has come through again, I found out over at another thread that there is indeed a problem with the trannies, went to my local shop today and they said yes also.

The 7 speed tranny has no place in a diesel , give me by 5 speed back any day, I agree with the torque on the new one, heck you could get by with a 3 speed....
