Question about selling used 603 & transmission
Okay here's the story first:
I bought an '87 300D a while ago as a parts car, figured it drove nice and ran nice, I'd always have the parts around to fix mine if needed. If not, I can sell the driveline for what I have in the car. The problem is it takes up too much space. So, I'm considering pulling the engine/trans, and disassembling the rest of the car, storing the useful stuff and selling/dumping the rest. Now my question: Am I shooting myself in the foot by taking it out if I decide to sell the engine and trans someday? Are the engine/trans worth more if it can be started/driven? Seems like either method has its disadvantages but it is taking up too much space to justify any more, ... ideas? Would you guys just pull it or keep it in the car in case you decide you don't need it? The other option is to pull the head and freshen-up the engine just for grins. One more question: If I do decide to remove/store the engine, do you "fog" a little diesel like this? What is best to preserve it for a year or so? I start it every month or so now. Thanks for suggestions.

I'm keeping my parts car intact enough to allow it to run & drive around the block. Once the engine is removed, you can't do much with it. I only fire mine up once, maybe twice, per year. It has always fired instantly though.
