Pardon my ignorance with older gas Benzes, but is this car really worth nearly $2k?

I stopped to look at a Euro '83 this week, guy wanted $1250, I saw it was a 380SE and drove away. Do the older gas cars hold their value as well as the diesels (talking sedans, not coupes or SLs)?

450 sel is a great car especially because its a EURO!!! if its in as good of condition it says then its worth about that much the gassers are worth just about as much if not more than diesels because of how much raw power they have.

Whenever I see 'needs a little TLC', I tend to think 'total heap that needs major money'.

If all it needs is a little TLC, then it wouldn't be hard to fix it before sale, would it!?

That rates up there with "in good condition for its age", which means: It's beat but what do you expect? It's old.

That car has been up for 2 weeks. With gas prices who wants to pay $80 a fillup around here.

Too bad it's not a 6.9. Now that's a gasser I would drive!

...very quickly to the gas station and back every day

On a related note, I parked next to an old, but in pretty good condition 300SEL 6.3 at the Seattle Old Spaghetti Factory in March when I was back home:

Hope I didn't hijack this thread too badly

To continue the hijack, that's one of the very few gasser benz that really tempt me, I just think they are very cool. The good ones seem to be getting a little pricey.

Those are cool too, but I really like the looks of the W109.

Notice the subtle spacing between the "SE" and "L" of the above 300SEL.....that is an excellent example of the attention to detail Mercedes put into these cars...the kind of stuff that just gives me a warm tingley feeling deep inside.....
LOL

On the note of the thread's subject, I would positively love a 6.9, just to have a gigantic land yacht with a just-as-gargantuan V8 to cruise out to the country club in on the weekends..
