Vacuum diagrams needed
I have searched to no avail, and yes I've read the gigantic transmission adjusting thread that contains links to all sorts of things... I've checked the sites and they stop at '85.
Unless i've missed something in which case I apologize. Where do I look for good vacuum diagrams... not just for the transmission systems but, well, basically anything I can get my hands on that pertains to the car - for my 86 300SDL with a 603? (duh... just clarifying) We've got all sorts of random things to figure out (need to troubleshoot transmission that shifts like a rodeo bull, need to figure out why dash vents only provide air to the windshield, need to figure out where a couple of vacuum lines are actually supposed to go, need to figure out what a few mysterous devices under the hood are (and if we could do without them...)... basically, I need diagrams for the vacuum system on the whole car. Or any parts of it. All I can find through my searches are for the pre-86 models... If I've missed a grotesquely obvious place, then I apologize again. Anybody help? Thanks... |

Just to further clarify what I need... basically my car is practically haunted with vacuum issues.
I own a mityvac, but I need diagrams showing what is supposed to do what, otherwise going in and just testing things doesn't help me learn anything. Searching issue-by-issue has rarely helped, especially with my transmission quarrels, since every write-up I have seen - some of which are absolutely, stunningly, complete and excellently done, by the way - don't apply to my car as nearly as I can tell. I'd sell the car (well, almost) just to get my hands on paper books for it... without those, I'm just asking for any materials that would provide a starting point. |

Try this and let me know if it helps
I'm what's might be called a (diagram) diaphragm dummy. Still searching from where to where and other mythical mercedes questions of vacuum metaphysics http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=105297

I may try to use some of them... but none of them on that page apply to my engine specifically. I don't know if they're close enough or not, but I may have to try it. Will get back...

I have NO affiliation with this eBay seller. I bought a W123 vacuum manual off of them when I had a 300D. It was very informative and easy to follow.

i also found lots of books on ebay. i also have the 86 300SDL and i feel your pain. great ride when it runs. mine will not shift into 4th gear. likely a trans problem. i am in the books now and don't know how happy i am going to be. i do know the diagrams on the cd are hard to read on the screen, so look for original MB manuals. on ebay search for mercedes manuals. the cds will be mixed in there so buy with care.
