Head bolt removal question

I am not particularly happy right now. I cannot find my haynes nor my shop manual. And I want to take the head off my 617 engine. Problem is that I forgot what is the exact sequence to take the head bolts out. Specifically, how do you take the head bolts on the turbo side of the engine, surrounded by those brackets right on the top of the exhaust and intake manifold studs?

Here's the tightening sequence. To remove, do it in reverse order.

I also uploaded the torque specs.

Thanks for the man pages! So, I should take the rocker arms before I take the head bolts off. I was thinking I could somehow put one of those 12pt (?) tools that would be skinny enough to reach the head bolt I circled without haveing to take the rocker arm assembly. Another mystery solved.

I've always thought they used 12pt bolts. Learning something new every day.

Update: I got the head out!

Now, using a specialized performance tool,

I was able to take the piece of paper that was the reason I took the head out to begin with.

So, life is good. I will be doing some cleaning and replacing a few worn out parts, like this guy here

And put the beast back together. Thanks for all the help!

i would not have taken the head off for a piece of paper.

i can think of many ways to deal with that.

How would you have done that? know it is too late for that, but one never know when I will need to do it again.

This almost has to be a first on this site. I gotta know how it happened other than the obvious it went down the intake. There it was gone kind of thing?
What comes to mind is the air filter area being used to hoard money for the next expected repair.
Too bad it ruined the compression enough that the cylinder did not fire and burn it to ashes. You might have got it by removing the exhaust manifold and opening the exhaust valve once an edge of the paper was secured. Or perhaps feeding a very hot flame in the port to burn up the majority of it. I guess much would have depended on the port/valve configuration. If you knew it was paper before pulling the head it is too bad you did not post the problem.
The creative solutions posted would have been interesting. Perhaps not as much as the member whose wife is having her mammary glands shaken up though.

The short answer was me being stupid and not paying attention. I had disconnected the hose from the turbo to the intake manifold and covered the intake with a piece of paper towel to avoid little friends taking residence there. Then, I was doing something and decided to turn the engine. The bloody thing started right up without the turbo and a friend told me the paper towel was gone. So, I turned the engine off, and took the intake manifold out. Found the paper partially sucked into the middle cylinder. So I took as much of the paper as I could but it was still some stuck in there. So, I then took the turbo and exhaust manifold out of the car and tried to fish it out but turning the engine manually and using a hemostat. Not good enough. At least I knew the turbo's turbine blades were ok. So, I was like "fine! If you want me to take your head out, so be it." And the rest is history...

lol! I think what I need to do is to take the opportunity to do all those little (and not so little) things I meant to do in the engine bay. Like a better end to the oil return line from the oil separator. And a few worn out parts.

Problems, well, as soon as I noticed it had sucked the paper in I decided I did not want to do much driving.

Yeah, but I thought that taking the head off would be the surest way to know every little piece of paper would be gone. No guessing here.

I still can't see how that would be a problem.
