123 blower fan always on 2...
My darling 1983 240D (now that it has new shocks and balanced injectors that is), is now threatening my enjoyment of it's new smooth ride by not blowing air correctly at fan speed setting 1 of the climate control.
I've looked for a soultion, but none found. I guess what I want to know is should I go after the switch in the dash board, or start with the blower motor? The blower does make a faint high pitched whining sound. Should I have a stern word with him first, or the climate control/fan speed rotary dial? To clarify the behaviour - when I put the fan switch to position 1, it blows as if it is at position 2. At position 2 it blows as if at position 2. At position 3 it blows as if at position 3. So only position 1 is a problem. Not a major problem, but it does bug the perfectionist in me... thanks.

Sounds to me like your switch is bad. As far as the whining, you could pull the blower out and try cleaning and lubing it up. I have seen many gunked up blowers that work and sound like new when given a little TLC.
