Well I have the chance to try to put a few miles on my it is a 1982 Benz it's been about two years since I had last driven this Beauty!!! Ghuese what it won't start not quiet a half a tank of fuel. This car I think might have low comp. in a couple of cyls. Now the big question is How to get this thing started??
It ran for a bout 20 sec it seamed but now it is poping during start mode. I do not want to put alot of money it this car right now. Can the car be pop started??? Ifso how do you do it??? i |

Sounds like it has a fuel/air leak and lost its prime while sitting so long.
Have you pumped the primer pump on the side of the IP 20 times? After you've done that, if it still doesnt start you can crack the metal lines at each injector and crank the starter until fuel comes out, then tighten each back down. This will get any remaining air out of the system. If it doesnt start then, it is time to look at GP's, valve adjustment, and to also confirm you've got good compression.

Got her running!!!
Well got the Benz running yesterday!!!! 1981 300sd Would not start after two yrs. of storage. It acted as if it was flooded. Here is what I did to get it running. Spin off the fuel filter pour out old fuel filled with fresh reinstall and pump air out and flush I.P. with fresh fuel, Still would not start. Spin off the fuel filter pour out fuel and fill with Diesel Service cetane boost. Spin on the filter pump air out and tried the key. Revolutions increased more and more until it finely caught!!!! Runs great now. If any body ever has this problem try it it works.

My guess is that the cetane boost made up for a glow plug or two that are out....

It worked fine. I went on the road for work. Every time I got back it was winter and the roads were full of salt.

More specific info will help. Does it make any noise when you turn the key? Can you tell if the battery is up to it? Auto tranny needs to be in park.
