It might be worse than you thought!
As some of you know I am the proud owner of a Lovecraft Converted 300D. I am one of those clowns who bought the car and didnt do any research on the conversion. I was just stoked to dump oil in the tank and drive around. All was great till I stumbled on this forum and found out what a jack ass I am...
Anyway in an attempt to improve the system untill I can figure out how to make Biodiesel, I have added some electric heat. I first added the injection line heaters, and then a couple of weeks ago I added a Vegetherm. When I added the Vegetherm I also installed the so called "little angel" it is simply a water temperature gauge installed in a "T" with the fuel line running through the other oppenings. I added this a few inches after the Lovecraft/Davco filter, right before the fuel line would enter the inline fuel filter. Now my fuel line loops through the vegetherm before entering the IP.
My plan was to add a toggle switch and once the Lovecraft system got up to temp i could just kill the electric heat and give my charging system a break.... That is where the problem is.
This system is never heating my oil up past about 110F!!! I couldnt believe it. I thought I had screwed up the install of the temp gauge, I kept checking the wires, then I drove on the freeway and the needle slowly moved up. After about 2 weeks of around town driving the gauge never got above 110F.
I am sure that it is no surprise to anyone here that this system sucks, I was a little surprised at how bad it sucks. And it is always good to have some real data on this system. I will, as i have promised before, pull the injectors soon, and post up pics!!!
