i have a chance to buy back my 83 240/300

today the fellow who bought my us spec 83 240 with the euro spec 300d complete with correct flywheel and a four speed and 307 gears called me. his daughter has been driving the little car. she had an accident and totalled the car.

when they first bought it, after a month or so he called and described a problem with the clutch. i said it sounds like a hydraulic problem. but he had it at a tranny place and didn't listen to me and they charged him for a new clutch master, slave, to bearing, pilot bearing, pp and disc, plus labor. i had told him all that was new and had only 10k on it but noooooooooo.

anyway i went out and it turns out the girl was driving it in the rain and slid into the back of a car with the lf of the 240, spun around and going backwards slid under a large suv, bashing in the rr of the car.

so i start up the car and right away it feels like half of the master cyl is shot. a short drive confirms that it is operating on rear brakes only. now i know why she hit someone in the rear and then did a 180!

and the clutch feels funky. not like an all new setup should.

so when i get back i pull the lid on the mc and the rear of it is DRY. i am thinking that the repair shop maybe didn't actually change anything but just filled up the res.

so anyway, he paid me 4500 for the car, she has driven it for 10k and has bashed the body some, and from the looks of it never washed or waxed it at all. it still steers and drives great on the michelins and bilsteins that i put on it not to mention the front end parts. so the repair estimate was 5500. he had 500 deductable and they paid him $5000 and he has the car. and he wants me to pay him 2000 for it.

hah! good deal for him. but really the car runs and drives. it has the sweetest little na 300 motor, stick and etc. it needs some brake and body work. i have most of the parts to fix it.

i put more than 4000 in the rebuild of the motor when i owned it.

i don't need another car but if he would offer it for less i would bite.

anybody need a good driver?

I would be interested if the body is solid and I could talk him down. I think he will have a hard time getting 2K for a wrecked 240.

there is some rust but not a lot. really if you need a sharp motor, it has been built right with sleeves, decking etc.
