83 300D Price Advise

This car drives good and is mostly rust free. Problems are dent (see pic), pitting paint on horizontal surfaces, cracks on dash, tach and speedo not working, ac not working. Oil pan replaced as it was sheared from hitting a curb. Not quite sure about climate control overall. Seller wants $2000. Odo says 96k

Any thoughts?

Any sense of how long it was driven post-"curb impact" and pre-"oil pan replacement"? For me that would make or break the deal for sure as there could be some hidden secrets lurking beneath the depths ...

Too much money

Tobybul, $2000.00 is just too much money for that car. If it is reall rust free underneath, then I would say offer them $800.00 and be willing to go another $200.00. You'll probably wind up owning it for $800.00. Then you have a little cushion for what you have to do on that car. Man, besides the repair it needs paint. And until you get it painted, the paint is going to continue to get worse. Believe me, the seller doesn't have people lined up to buy that car. He is looking for someone he can snag on it for 2 grand. Don't do it.

I believe this car may have been totaled by the insurance co in the late 90s due this curb deal. I believe seller only got it within the last 2 years but I don't know who from. Saw it last fall and almost got it until I found out the history from prior owner after I saw the title.

Still thinking about it though as it actually drove very well. Started right up. Per carfax, it was Florida car, West Palm.

Sounds good

Tobybul, then do it this way and make us both right. Offer them $500.00 and be ready to make one more small concession on price. If they don't go for it, let them sell it to the guy who is standing behind you, because he isn't reading this forum

2k for that, and I couldn't get 2300 for mine? I'd run away fast, or do what has been said, cuz it's worth about 750 to me.
