Transmission installation

Does anyone have an easy way to line up the torque converter to the flywheel on a transmission swap?

What car and year?

If it is a W123 or 126, the easiest way is to line up one of the three sets of two bolt holes at the six O'clock position. So when you line up the transmission it will meet the holes.

But if you bolt up the transmission already... That is a good question...

not sure what you mean by "line-up" but you install the transmission with TC already seated on the spline of the transmission shaft. bolt it up and then spin the flexplate (or flywheel) around via the crank to bolt it to the TC.

When the the transmission is installed and not bolted to the flexplate yet the TC should spin with just a bit of friction from the plate. If it doesn't then it's not seated fully on the transmission shaft.
