Recommendations Wanted

MUST BE A W123. I am starting my search for my next car and I want a stick shift this time. Must be nice, rust free, and definatly a 123. Any suggestions on what to get and how much I can expect to pay.

Good luck with that. Rare=$$$$$. I think sticks were on 240's only. Unless, of course it's a Euro, or gray market. A friend has a cobbled together 300 CD stick, numbers do not match, difficult to get accurate part numbers for various items. He is having a very hard time keeping hydraulic clutch bled. No tach, it's a '79, so servo climate headache. He also has my old '82 240 that needed serious engine work, stick, manual everything, which is why I bought it, now that bio-hazard is history. He's happy tho.

I would say $3000-$4000 for a nice car. Price fixing the upper end of the market has caused the median price to go up so it would be hard pressed to find a deal under that amount unless you know of many retirement communities in your area.

If you want a W123 stick, your only stock options are a 240D or gray market 300D. Turbodiesels with stick conversions can be found, but the quality of the conversion may not be up to MB standards depending on the budget of the converter.

Thanks for the input. 3-4k sounds a little less than what I was expecting. A 240 sounds like it might be the ticket, but a gray market 300....... . I do not want a conversion. I would like to stay as close to original as possible.
