'87 300 SDL...Injection Pump ?'s

Replacing my IP delivery valve o rings due to leakage, prompting following questions:

1. Do I also need to change the copper crush washers?
2. On this ‘87 300 SDL do I need to first remove the intake manifold (IM) in order to remove the torx screws and multi tooth hold down nuts on the delivery valves?
3. Anybody have the torque settings and tightening sequence for replacing the intake manifold and also the delivery valves?
4. Assume it’s smart to go back in with the viton o rings rather than the rubber, if so, where to buy the viton?
5. Appears this good time to replace the glow plugs ?

Will appreciate any tips on above.
thanks

1, yes you should replace the copper washers while you are there, this has been a topic of recent discussion. There is a thread or three on the topic and the torque specs are available as well. I dont recall anything on the viton o-rings but a search on some "key words and tricky phrases" could unearth what you are looking for.

Torx nuts

DO NOT Touch the Two bolts/heads on either side of each fuel delivery valve.

Only the single especial crenelated looking nut on the bottom of where you
have removed the fuel line cap nuts.

(The other "outboard" fasteners if loosened "unbalance" the individual fuel
delivery valve output as compared to the others...BAD SCENE)

I just had the O-rings and copper crush washers replaced on my 300SDL and the intake did not come off. Also, if you're good, you can replace the glow plugs without the intake coming off. My mechanic did it in my driveway. Seems the IP leaked enough that it would barely start.

Now, not only does it start instantly, it runs better !!!
