Smile opinions please

ok guys...i drive my 1980 300sd daily...love to death....

looking at purchasing a 1987 560 with just under 200k and in great shape..ie mechanic owned and cared for...its a daily driver (the woman that owns it) and shes offering for 1700...

deal or no deal based on good motor/tranny/brakes/belts/paint..etc....

opinions wanted...

The vehicle gets about 13 mpg.

There's a reason why the price is so low........nobody can afford to drive it very far.

But, if it's not a daily driver......go for it.

Expect lots of needed maintenance items on that engine with 200K miles, it may even need a valve job if it puts out any blue smoke.

Expect to fill up the fuel tank much more frequently than your SD.

Its an M117 with 200k miles. If their are no records of the timing chain being done, its due.

If the heads have not been off, they should go out for a valve job at the same time. The cam's may also need replacing.


Great engine, they just need a little to stay running in peak form.
