vacuum valve/throttle linkage adjutsment

I am sure there has been discussed somewhere, but I can't for the life of me track it down again, so with apologies, I'll ask:

I finally got the little replacement vacuum valve lever and installed it on my vacuum valve, but at its current adjustment, the linkage holds the lever down from idle on up. I can adjust the linkage so the lever is not depressed at idle but depresses almost immediately as throttle is applied. Is this the correct adjustment?

Many thanks!

Maybe check my post on this, perhaps it will help. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=184900
The stopper should move up and down with the movement of the lever. If it doesn't then you need to adjust it and try again. It can all be tested with the VCV out of the car, and its pretty simple to remove and reinstall as I guess you have already done. Hope this helps.

Thanks mistergood; I should have been clearer on my terminology, though -- I need to know about the valve on top of the valve cover (sometimes called the 3/2 valve, I think?). My car is a Euro spec 300D, NA, and a bit different (vacuum system-wise) from most US spec W123s out there, I have found. Sorry for the confusion, and by the way -- nice, clean engine in those pics in your post!!!

No problem. Sorry I misunderstood. If your 3/2 valve is at all like mine, then yes, the top one will be depressed as soon as you engage the throttle and the bottom one will be engaged at WOT(may be the other way bottom/top).
