Engine shake after manifold gasket/turbo change

I have a bad shake after the above mentioned repair. I have a feeling it's low compression in a cylinder. Car will do 100 on the highway still, but at idle it rocks. New mounts and new engine shockers. \New rack bolt, adjusted with precision. On a road trip last winter it started shaking really bad like that, then unexpectedly got better on its own. Now it's back to shaking.
A little gray smoke visible only at night.
New radiator, and new reservoir & cap, new water pump, loses a wee bit of coolant, can't see where it's going, and the TOP HOSE FEELS A BIT HARDER THAN THE OLD ONE. Uh oh. No coolant in oil or vice versa and no sweet smelling white smoke either.
I'm going to adjust the valves and see if it goes away, otherwise I'll have to fire up the wallet again. Jeez.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Could I have dislodged some intake port scrunge and caused it to stick a valve open or something like that when changing the gasket?

Could an injector popping at the wrong pressure or a bad spray pattern cause this?

Just a thought.

What is your idle speed? Does the car nail when cold?

At idle crack open individually the injector line to each injector to identify the cylinder causing problems. If there is no change or minor change in idle when you open the injector line, then that is probably the cylinder causing you grief. Caution, the fuel is at high pressure. Wrap a rag on around the top of the injector once you get the pipe fitting loose. Wear eye protection.

Once you identify the problem cylinder, you can check the valve clearence, do a compression check or remove the injector and have it pop tested.

Here's what you do if it's so cold your diesel fuel gels. Smear some on some toast and stay inside until it warms up outside.

No nailing when cold- I'm starting to think a valve tightened up. Valve adjustment's next on the list, then I'll purge it.
