Government auction

Anyone interested in a 1999 E300TD? Government auction here: http://www.govliquidation-interactive.com/saleredirect.asp If it doesn't show up on their home page, do a search for E300TD, even has a video presentation.

seems nobody's interested in going for a look see. Was discussed somewhat a little while ago.
Looks very interesting to me, but I'm too far away and already married to a sweet 300SDL.

At least they hosed off the engine. Last photos had 8 years of dust covering everything.

That's about 170 miles from me. I know exactly where that is. I'm thinking about bidding on it.

Where the car is located is an Army munitions post.

Best take a fist full of o-rings, and electrical cleaner for the MAF with you if you win.

Wow, someone really wants that car. Opening bid $50, now is past $19,000

I wonder how much dry rot that car has. Probably has the original battery, too.

Anyone ask if they have a title for the car? Most of the vehicles they sell do not. Gov't Liquidators is a gov't contractor to dispose salvage Gov't property from millitary bases. I've bought from their auctions last year. You MUST read the bidder requirements for each lot very carefully...

There is no title, they give you a Gov't form a couple weeks later that allows you to get a title issued from YOUR state, if YOUR state accepts such. All your responsibility. You also pay the 10% buyers fee and sales tax in Tx before you can remove it from the base. If you are a dealer holding a resale license you can avoid the sales tax until the vehicle is sold. If you are not a dealer and are from out of state it looked to me like you would pay tax twice.

In theory this works fine except in reality there is a title for this car floating around out there somewhere...what happens if the title holder shows up and disputes your ownership of it? I'd be really reulctant to buy an expensive car unless I was assured 100% title was clean and clear. I'd be surprised if the state title office would issue a clean title to this, it would probably be something akin to a salvage title or reconstructed since the original title chain has been broken. That would make it harder to sell down the road too. The whole thing leads me to believe that someone will ultimately pay way too much for this car.

Dang, its Texas bro, you SHOOT 'EM and drive on!

Nice car, even though I dislike the boring color scheme. 20.5K is a bit rich given the "conditions" of the deal.

I was going to say try to get it for $20k-$25k.

That car should be like brand new. Just do a major service to change all the fluids and filters, throw in a new battery, and a new set of tires and you have a damn near new E300D.

Drive it for a year then flip it on ebay for $30k.

If I was E300D shopping I would be all over this car.
