87 300d No Air From Dash Vents
There is no air coming from the dash vents or the floor but the a/c works fine what could it be thanks for any help
|
Ever troubleshooted a vacuum system before?
This is a vacuum problem. The vents are controlled by vacuum pods that open and close flaps to block air. When a pod's rubber diaphragm cracks, you get air leaking in, which breaks the vacuum and makes the pod and most likely the whole system inoperable. A simple test of this is to try to lock and unlock your doors with the A/C running. It probably won't work (if they do, then you are lucky and it could be a much more expensive electronics problem instead). |
The door-lock test doesn't work on 201/124/140 and newer, they have a separate vacuum pump for the locks.

Ah. I saw the 300d and went for it, guess I got mixed up in that 85 is the last year they were 123s, not 87.
I assume the pods and controls are probably about in the same place? If that is the case, you can test the pods from under the controls in the center console... I won't go into detail because I will be wrong :) Hopefully someone can help you more than I can, I only know anything about 123s  |
You remove the glovebox to test the operation of the pods in the 124.
